Ammily is a free community for people in later life across Norfolk. We help people feel connected — to others, to the natural world around them, and to life itself.
That means a WhatsApp community, a monthly newsletter, a regular community walk, local events, and a space where your knowledge and experience genuinely matter. Not a wellness programme. Not a care service. A community.

Anyone in later life in Norfolk — at 60, at 75, at 90. Whether you have just retired or have been retired for twenty years. Whether you are active and looking for people to explore Norfolk with, or you rarely leave the house and would value a warm community arriving in your inbox each month.
Ammily is also for family members who want to find something genuinely good for a parent or grandparent. If you think someone you love would benefit, you are very welcome to join on their behalf or share it with them.
-
Yes. Joining Ammily costs nothing. The WhatsApp community, the monthly newsletter, the community walks, the events calendar, the hidden gems map - all of it is free.
We are building a paid membership tier called Ammily Plus for those who want more. That is coming later. But the free community will always exist and will always be genuinely valuable.
-
Not at all. Ammily is designed for everyone — not just the people who come to every event and post in the group every day.
If you want to come on walks, attend events, and be part of the WhatsApp conversation, brilliant. If you would rather just read the newsletter and browse the events calendar quietly, that is equally welcome. There is no obligation, no pressure, and no expectation that you contribute anything.
-
Yes. The community runs mainly through WhatsApp, which many people already use. If you are not sure how to use it, we can help — and we run in-person events in Norfolk where you can come along, meet us, and ask any questions face to face.
If WhatsApp feels like too much for now, you can still receive the monthly newsletter by email and come along to walks and events without needing any app at all.

Each month the newsletter includes a personal note from us about what is happening in Norfolk right now, nature notes for the season, one genuinely useful topic — things like staying independent at home, managing finances in retirement, or staying connected through winter — a digest of local events, and a spotlight on a local business we have personally vetted and would recommend.
Something to read with a cup of tea, not a task to get through.

On the same weekend every month, we meet somewhere in Norfolk for a free walk. Routes are always chosen with accessibility in mind - there is always an option for people with limited mobility. You do not need to be fit, you do not need any kit, and you do not need to know anyone. Just come along.
If you cannot make it in person, the walk route is always shared in the newsletter and on the hidden gems map so you can go at your own time.
-
A growing collection of walks, shops, places, nature spots, and seasonal highlights across Norfolk — places most people have never found despite living nearby for years. We add to it every week. It is free, public, and shareable. No sign-up needed to browse it.
-
Right now, yes. Ammily is rooted in Norfolk - the walks, the events, the local directory, and the hidden gems map are all specific to this county. That local knowledge is what makes it genuinely useful rather than generic.
If you know someone outside Norfolk who would value something like this, feel free to share it - we hope to expand to other areas in time.

Click the Join for Free button and fill in a short form. We will send you a personal invite to the WhatsApp community and add you to the newsletter list. That is it. No commitment, no payment details, no obligation. You can leave at any time.
-
Please do. This is one of the things that makes Ammily different. Each week we share one member's knowledge, experience, or perspective with the community. If there is something you know well - a skill, a local place, a piece of practical wisdom - we would love to hear from you. Just send us a message and we will take it from there.
-
We work with local organisations, GP surgeries, councils, and employers in Norfolk who want to connect people in later life with Ammily. If that sounds like something worth exploring, get in touch via the contact page and we will have a conversation.

We would love to hear from you. Send us a message on the contact page and we will get back to you personally.
